Conor McGregor Has Mastered the Social Media Style Flex
admin • 10 months ago
Watching Conor McGregor gradually up his style game (as he continues to dominate in the ring) has been entertaining, to say least. What started off as a wardrobe brimming with kind of tacky and outlandish suits (more club bouncer than red carpet wunderkind) is now a full-on designer closet, tailored damn well, complete with weird eyewear and swervy furs. As the MMA fighter has been getting his sea legs with menswear, he’s also been going through the various stages of the social media style flex.
Stage One: Aggression
Months ago, when McGregor started really dressing the part of a World Champion fighter in slim trousers, loafers, and polo shirts, his Instagram flexes were predictably aggressive. He was into fashion, and really wanted everyone to know it.
Stage Two: Humor
More recently, after months of flexing in crazy Gucci rigs and custom-made suits, he’s been injecting a little bit of humor and irony into his posts. These have been much more entertaining and, okay yeah, even a little envy inducing. Dude is tucking his sweatpants into his socks like a pro.
Stage Three: Literally just outfit credits.
You know you’ve really reached the top when you are content to just randomly post pictures of the stuff you own, with nothing but a designer credit (all lowercase) for the caption. In other words, he will show us his $720 button-down but he doesn’t have time to, like, explain it to us.
Conor McGregor, you have arrived.
