And there were definite winners.

The highly anticipated DC Comics Justice League hits theaters this weekend and while Rotten Tomatoes is reserving judgement until opening day, we’re here with the hot take on the film’s red carpet output. Conclusion: The staple navy suit is more unpredictable than we previously thought. Five of the film’s superheroes gave the icon their own twist at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles last night, and only a few of them came out victorious.

The hmmm category: Ezra Miller and Henry Cavill’s three-piece suits.

Proof that simple is never a bad way to go: Jason Momoa and Ray Fisher’s navy-and-black combos.

The guys who played it a safer—but hardly boring—with their navy tailoring on the Justice League red carpet won out. Instead of charcoal gray, and white, or red, Momoa and Fisher kept things simple by sticking to a navy and black color palette. Momoa’s slim-cut suit fits well and cowboy add-ons—the boots, the rings, the wild hair—make the whole thing fittingly badass. Fisher, meanwhile, looked super polished in a black shirt and just wide enough black tie. His pants were maybe a touch short, but better too short than too long if you ask us.

The Ben Affleck of the night: Ben Affleck in a modern mix, slouchy fit.

Affleck, per usual, sort of landed in the middle with his suited up look. The rich color of his suit and its monochromatic underpinnings—a signature of his stylist, Ilaria Urbinati—work exceptionally well. And his beard game is on point too. But we wish the suit fit a little bit slimmer and shorter, especially through the legs. We know Affleck is not a fan of being suffocated by his clothes, so that could be the explanation for his roomier suit. Let’s just be glad he didn’t demand Batman wear athleisure gear. Now that would be a true style miss.
